Old Fashioned Cucumbers and Onions

Well, I think our cucumbers are about done. I harvested about 8 and thought about picking cucumbers for Grandma so she could make cucumbers and onions.

My Grandma Mammi loved cucumbers and onions, and so do I. I am so glad she taught me how to make them.

Cucumbers peeled and sliced. Onions peeled and sliced. Water and white vinegar in equal parts. I used a cup to start. 1 cup sugar and salt and pepper. Mix this all and whisk till sugar dissolved. Pour over your cucumbers and onions. I used a 2 qt glass container and I had to make more but I cut it in half. Perfect amount.

I hope you enjoy!

This is exactly how my Mimmie made them! I get to craving them from time to time and when I have a cucumber on hand, I will make some. They don’t last very long! Thanks for sharing this. It brought back a lot of memories today. Give Laura a hug from me. 🙂
